Well, the weathers certainly not giving us much to smile about at the moment. Fortunately, online retailers are hoping to take advantage of the fact that few of us are venturing out to the shops at the moment by offering some great online deals.
In this mini update for July 2012 we’ve picked out what we consider to be the best laptop bargain available to buy right now. This month it’s the Toshiba C855-10Z that gets our vote, it’s got a price defying specification and is available here for less than £400.
Read on to find out why we’ve selected the C855-10Z as our bargain buy this month.
Toshiba C855-10Z
We’re no strangers to the C855-10z, it was last months winner of our best £400 laptop deals post and saw off competition from the Samsung 305U1A and also the Acer 5560G.
Whilst the Acer might offer a better gaming experience it’s the C855-10z and its Intel i5-2450M processor that’s better suited to the masses. It’s got enough processing power to cope with just about anything you can throw at it making everyday tasks like web browsing, watching videos or performing office tasks a pleasant experience.
But there’s one particular feature that edges out the competition and makes the C855-10Z our bargain buy of the month.
If you look closely you’ll see the blue port on the side of the Toshiba C855-10Z, that’s a USB 3.0 port and is very rare on a laptop costing less than £400.
USB 3.0 is set to become the new transfer standard between devices and is up to 10x faster than legacy USB 2.0. What this means in simple terms, is that you’ll spend far less time copying files to and from external devices like hard drives and USB sticks.
From a design perspective, the Toshiba C855-10Z isn’t bad. Sure, it doesn’t feature a super thin chassis and the premium materials found on more expensive laptops, but we didn’t expect it to. It’s certainly not a bad looking laptop and looks more expensive than it’s £400 price tag.
One thing that we did find a little strange is the placement of the track pad. For some reason, Toshiba has decided to position it over to the left hand side of the top casing which can make using it slightly awkward at times.
It’s a minor gripe though and one that isn’t significant enough to stop us naming the Toshiba C855-10Z as our laptop bargain for July 2012. It’s available here for under £400 and you’ll have a very time finding something better at this price point.
